Book List for Prelims CSE by Nandini K.R - UPSC Topper 2016.

Hello Every one,  
This is my 2nd article on this blog, in the previous article I have written about me and my strategies regarding CSE.
Since I have received several message to list out Book list for prelims and Mains so Its my pleasure and duty to tell about books to be referred for prelims and well as mains. In this article I am focusing specially on Prelims because less than 6 month left for prelims 2018. I will Tell about books for Mains in the next article very soon.

 NOTE   :- I firmly believe, in case of CSE preparation that “every journey is unique” though the destination is same. Hence, I request you not to blindly follow me, but formulate your own strategy keeping in mind your challenges, strengths, capacity, aptitude and situations in life.
Disclaimer :- By listing down the name of books, it does not mean that I am promoting specific  books, but yes according to me this will be beneficial for you.

 I have also written Sources to Download or purchase because many aspirants who belong from rural areas have not access to get all stuffs. 
Since I am not from Hindi medium Background and Many aspirants Messaged me to tell books also for Hindi medium thats why I will try to list out books also for Hindi medium.


Syllabus for Prelims

The UPSC Preliminary Examination shall comprise two compulsory papers of 200 marks each.
Paper I - (200 marks)- General Studies 
• Current events of national and international importance.
• History of India and Indian National Movement.
• Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
• Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
• Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
• General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization.
• General Science.
Paper II- (200 marks) CSAT
• Comprehension
• Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability
• Decision-making and problem-solving
• General mental ability
• Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level)
• English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).
Note  : The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.

General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change


As Mentioned in syllabus do not require subject specialization.

Read Shankar IAS Book on Environment, you can skip some topics from this book read this book at least 3 times.

You can refer Drishti IAS Quick Book on Environment and Ecology(Holistically covered).

General Science

Read Ncert 8,9,10 and Some last chapter of 12 th class Biology book, along with these books read current affairs through Magazine or News paper.

NOTE -1:- No need to read News paper if you are reading from Drishti IAS App.

NOTE -2 :- Along with above mentioned stuffs you should refer Yojana and Economic survey. You can refer some chapters of India Year Book.

Paper II- (200 marks) CSAT

Solve Previous year question papers
You can refer TMH Book for CSAT with Previous Year Question and Solutions. This book covers all topics.
You can also refer R S Agarwal book. Buy Now
FOR HINDI MEDIUM
For Hindi Medium Drishti CSAT Book can be referred.

Prelims Test Series or Mock Papers

Last but not least, Attempt Mock Test Series.
Attempt Mock Test of any Good Coaching Institutes.
Give All Sets of Mock Test series of an institute completely. After Every Test analyse and google all related options and terms, which you do not know.

Read Every Book at least 2 times and Make short notes in 3rd time to revise.
